The Cotton Bolls are in Full Bloom

My wife who has not travelled in the South before living here has never seen cotton when the bolls are in bloom and stopped by a field to take some pictures on the way home the other day.

What is interesting is that when I showed these pictures to a Mississippian,  he mentioned that cotton is even prettier when they have sprayed the plants with a defoliant so only the bolls are left to make it easier to harvest.  That makes it a sea of white, versus a mix of green and white.

Another difference of perspective of newcomers versus natives.
