The Rabbit Foot Minstrels

On our way back from Natchez this past weekend we drove through Port Gibson and took a quick detour when we saw a Blues Trail marker sign. Port Gibson is the third oldest town in Mississippi that was settled in 1729 by the French. In the Civil War it was part of the Vicksburg campaign that resulted in the North getting control of the Mississippi River. General Grant spared the city as it was “too beautiful to burn”.

Here are some pictures of the Blues Trail site, which is a little off of Main Street.

Then a link about the drummer from The Band’s, Levon Helm, concert where he gives credit to The Foots from 2009.
