A New Species of Tree – A PerOak

On this past Friday work started on our land where we will be building. The first phase involves opening the view of the pond. In removing some small trees and overgrowth we discovered a fascinating new hybrid of two trees. We first saw persimmons ripe for the picking at the edge of the pond.

Looking for the base of the tree was confusing as at its base was another kind of bark.

For those of us who are botanically challenged, looking up it was obvious that the ‘rest’ of the tree is an oak as seen by its distinctive leaves.
