The Pruning Season Begins with a Bear of a Job

I have been dreading the need to prune the crepe myrtles in our front yard.  While they are very pretty when they are in full bloom, they need to be pruned back dramatically each spring.  Never having done it I have been driving around the neighborhood to see who has already done it, and what does a finished job look like.

There are four and a half of these little monsters! (the half is a one that is a little stunted as it is in the shade).

All I can say is that goodness for loping shears and electric hedge cutters.
