This spring I learned something about mosquitos. As I learned a long time ago, female mosquitos are larger than their male counterparts. So when I saw particularly large mosquitos on our front porch this spring I assumed it was because of the wet spring and our pond being full. However, in discussing it with folks down here I learned they are not actually mosquitos but what are known down here as ‘mosquito hawks’.
The good news is that they don’t bite humans!
